2005-2007: The Korolev Years.

Yari Korolev

Yaroslav Korolev is a likeable kid. Stand up guy, works hard, and is a supposed “shooting sensation” in practice. Which is why I was kinda dissapointed to see him go back to Europe to play ball. He never reached his potential…actually, he was never given the opportunity to reach his potential. Also, with the signing of Ruben Patterson, that spelled the end of Yari’s short lived career as a Clipper. In the back of our minds, there’s always gonna be the “what ifs”: what if he got to play 25 mins a game? What if he stayed with CSKA a couple years to refine his game? And a question commonly asked: what if the Clips had drafted Danny Granger instead? We would be in better shape, I think.

But alas, hindsight is 20/20. I wish Yari all the best. I hope he has a successful career and can eventually return to the NBA one day. And as Clipper fate would have it, he’ll probably torch us for 30 points and 10 boards on the next go-round. Lucky us.
